In the imperial New Hermitage paintings of the Russian
school were hung in this room. Today the display presents works by
17th-century Flemish artists. Among the ten paintings by Jacob Jordaens
in the Hermitage mention should be made of one of the best variants
of his Bean King, as well as an Allegorical Family Portrait
and Portrit of an Old Man. The room also contains works by masters
of animal painting and the still life: Frans Snyders's "shops", Paul
de Vos's "hunts" and Jan Fyt's still lifes. |
