This room presents works by Vincent van Gogh (1853-1890). The Hermitage has four of the artist's canvases. Memories of the Garden at Etten (Ladies of Arles) and The Arena at Arles were painted in Provence under the influence of Gauguin's manner of working. Lilac Bush, painted at the sanatorium at Saint-Remy in 1890, depicts a bush in the garden there, while Cottages presents the landscape of Auvers, where Van Gogh settled shortly before his death. This room also contains Pointillist landscapes by Paul Signac, Henri Moret and Henri-Edmond Cross, as well as Odilon Redon's painting A Woman Asleep under a Tree.
