The majority of the works included in the display of
Italian 20th-century sculpture in this room were presented to the
State Hermitage by the artists after it hosted their personal exhibitions.
Here you can find works by Giacomo Manzu: the sculptures Portrait
of Tebe and Tebe Sitting, the painting Artist and Model
and two bronze reliefs - sketches for the Gates of Death in
St Peter's, Rome. In 1982 Augusto Murer made a gift to the museum
of his Faun with a Flute, Harlequin and Boy with a Fish.
Here you can also see Francesco Messina's statues Swimmer and
David and also Man in November by the German sculptor
Waldemar Otto. |
