The display presents works of Chinese art from the time of the Ch'ing dynasty (1644-1911). Particularly noteworthy among the works of painting, executed with ink on paper and silk is the scroll Landscape at a Lake painted by the artist Cao Kuiyin with verses by the famous 9th-century Chinese poet Bo Jui. The Hermitage collection is rich in objects of decorative and applied art. The room contains cloisonné enamels, carved jades and lacquered root furniture. Of special interest are a twelve-panel Coromandel lacquer screen and jades.
