This room presents Indian painted miniatures. The display contains works from various schools of the 15th to 19th century. One of the most important themes of the Mughal school was depictions of rulers and courtiers (Portrait of Emperor Jahangir, Portrait of Hadji Abu'l-Hassan). The miniatures of the Rajput school take their subjects from Indian myths and epics (Krishna and Radha as the Guests of Shiva and Parvati). The artists of the Deccani school turned to scenes of court life (Pemamati, the Concubine of Abdullah Kutb Shah, the Ruler of Golconda). Hanuman with an Army of Monkeys before Rama is an example of a miniature from the ancient Indian epic Ramayana (Central India, most probably Malwa).
