This display is devoted to the Asiatic Huns (Xiongnu), a nomadic people who from the late 3rd century B.C. occupied Mongolia, part of Eastern Turkestan and Central Asia. Many artefacts from the graves of the Hun chieftains have been preserved in the permafrost. There is evidence of their links with their neighbours in their utensils, outstanding among which are a Chinese lacquer bowl and flower-shaped top-pieces for chariots also from China and a curtain from Central Asia. The exceptional conditions splendidly preserved clothing made of silk, felt and fur. Of interest are articles associated with the burial ritual and Hunnish-made felt carpets.
