Millionnaya Street that starts from the Field of Mars
and passes by the facade of the New Hermitage with its world-famous
atlantes, ends near Palace Square. In the Soviet times, it was renamed
after the revolutionary Stepan Khalturin, but recently the street
has regained its original name. It is from Millionnaya Street that
one can get the best view of the gilded dome of the Winter Palace's
Grand Church. It once was a witness of the most significant events
in the state affairs and family life of the Romanov dynasty. |
