On 4 April 2004 Ali Abdullah Saleh, President of the Republic of Yemen, was shown the State Hermitage as part of an official state visit to the Russian Federation. Director of the State Hermitage Mikhail Piotrovsky took the President and members of the Yemeni delegation around the museum.
