The transfer of Rubens’ painting Tarquinius and Lucretia to the State Hermitage On 14 September 2004 Moscow art collector Vladimir Logvinenko gave the State Hermitage an oil painting by Peter Paul Rubens to be restored and exhibited: Tarquinius and Lucretia dates from circa 1608. The painting was accepted by the Hermitage on the basis of a directive from the Federal Service for Supervision of the Laws in the Sphere of Mass Communications and Protection of the Cultural Heritage and also in keeping with contracts concluded between Vladimir Logvinenko and the State Hermitage. The restoration will be carried out by highly qualified art restorers in the Laboratory of Expert Restoration of Easel Paintings. The tentative date for completion of the restoration work is mid-February, 2005. |
