Scientific Conference (Readings) in Memory of Vladimir Levinson-Lessing (1893 - 1972)

On 27 October 2004 the annual Readings in Memory of Vladimir Levinson-Lessing were held in the Hermitage Theater, celebrating the life of an outstanding scholar whose career in the State Hermitage spanned half a century. Director of the State Hermitage Boris Piotrovsky delivered introductory remarks to the audience.

The conference was attended by Hermitage specialists from the Department of Western European Art, the Department of the Antique World, the Oriental Department, and the Department of Public Education, as well as by scholars from the European University in St Petersburg, the A.N. Radishchev State Art Museum of Saratov, and the State Museum-Park of Pavlovsk.

The reports read at the conference were devoted to a variety of issues surrounding the history of world art.
