Children of Beslan: A Hermitage Program

On 31 October 2004 a group of Beslan schoolchildren who were victims of the September terrorist acts arrived in St Petersburg at the invitation of the State Hermitage. The children were accompanied by parents and doctors from the Pravoberezhnaya Hospital, which was the first to receive those wounded during the seizure of the Beslan school by terrorists

The Hermitage museum is the initiator and organizer of a special program of art therapy. Its partner in this innovative undertaking is the Interros Holding Company.

Over the course of a week, the Hermitage’s guests from Beslan will also visit the State Russian Museum, the Ethnographic Museum, Tsarskoye Selo and the Mariinsky Theater. The program includes time with specialists of the department of remedial teaching at the Herzen Pedagogic University and with psychologists from the Institute of Further Education of Specialist Doctors. The coordinator of the program is Yulia Kantor.
