Celebration in the ‘Hermitage’ Kindergarten Nr. 110 On 3 March 2004 the ‘Hermitage’ Kindergarten Nr.110 organized a celebration around the theme of Ancient Egypt. The room where the festive event took place was beautifully decorated in Ancient Egyptian fashion. The participants, five and six year-olds, had long prepared for the day, learning about the history of Ancient Egypt and studying its culture. Parents prepared wonderful costumes for the children. There was a show which lasted about one hour. Among those present were Director of the State Hermitage Mikhail B. Piotrovsky and his deputy for scholarly affairs G.B. Vilinbakhov. The high-ranking guests included Vice Mayor of St Petersburg S.B. Tarasov and representatives of the Ministry of Education. The participants were not the only ones to enjoy this celebration. The adult spectators were amazed first of all by the knowledge which the children had received at lessons in the kindergarten and in tours of the Hermitage. |
