Master Class entitled Hand-crafted Cinema in the context of the Topical Art program

On 20 November 2004 the well-known Petersburg artist Boris Kazakov gave a master class entitled Hand-crafted Cinema in the Youth Center of the Hermitage.

Participants of the master class were acquainted with 35 mm animation graphics and also learned how to make comics out of documentary film. Then students were given a chance to try these techniques on their own under Boris Kazakov's guidance.

The master class was accompanied by a screening of famous works by the artist responsible for Kola and Sea Fledglings. At the end of the session the students could view their first efforts at making animated graphics.

The master class was held in a warm and creative atmosphere, and it evoked great interest among students from many institutions of higher learning in our city. They could experience the artistic process first hand and become authors of contemporary art.
