A New Year's Celebration for Children with special needs

On 25 December 2004 a New Year's celebration was held in the Hermitage Theatre for children with developmental problems who study in special schools. Both the on-stage actors and the audience were the students themselves. The students of public schools No. 370 and 34 took part in a handsome dramatization. Each school presented its own small show. These shows were based on Hans Christian Andersen's tale Thumbelina and E.T.A. Hoffmann's Nutcracker.

The script writers, directors, and designers demonstrated a great deal of thought and imagination in the shows, while the actors performed their roles with inspiration. At the end of the celebration, all of the children received presents.

The event was organized by the methodology section of the State Hermitage's School Center, which has a lot of experience working with children who have psychological and physical developmental disorders.

The celebration was sponsored by Baker&McKenzie, who provided the gifts and transportation by bus.
