A Lecture by French Architect Dominique Perrault On 19 March 2005 Dominique Perrault delivered a lecture in the Hermitage Theatre. The State Hermitage and the PRO ARTE Institute were co-organizers of the event, with participation by the agency Dominique Perrault Architecte and with support from the Ford Foundation. Dominique Perrault (born in 1953, France) is an architect, Member of the Architectural Academy of France, Chevalier of the Legion of Honor, Honorary Member of the Association of German Architects (BDA) and of the Royal Institute of British Architects (RIBA). Dominique Perrault has overseen more than 30 architectural projects, including: the University for Electrical Engineering (Marne la Vallee, 1986-1990), the office building Hotel Industriel Berlier (Paris, 1986-1990), the Great Orangery of the Center of Science and Industry (Paris, 1995-1997), the Media Library of Venissieux (Venissieux, 1997-2001), the French National Library (Paris, 1989-1995), the APLIX industrial complex (Le Sellier, Nantes, 1997-1999), the Olympic velodrome and swimming pool (Berlin, 1992-1999), the Town Hall, offices and hotel (Innsbruck, 1996-2002), the M-PREIS supermarket (Wattens, Austria, 2001-2003). Dominique Perrault is the recipient of numerous awards in the field of architecture and design: BTV Bauherrenpreis, Àustria (2003), World Architecture Award, first prize for best construction for public use (2002), the National Prize of Germany in the field of architecture (1999), the Mies van der Rohe Prize (1997), a special award in the Constructec-Prize (1996), the Grand Prix of France in Architecture (1993), and the Silver Set-Square (1990). |
