Opening of the Hermitage Conference
Room following restoration work
On 15 June 2005 the Conference Room in the State Hermitage was reopened
following completion of restoration work which began in October 2004 and
was carried out by the Petersburg Restoration Company Ltd., of which M.V.
Botakovsky is the director. The Conference Room is used for holding scholarly
conferences, round table discussions and sessions of the Hermitage Academic
Council.
The following work was performed:
- restoration of the existing ceilings, cornices and upper architectural
elements (entablement)
- repair to the oak panels and doors
- reproduction and installation of two missing doors on the western
wall using preserved doors as models
- restoration of the window frames and decoration restoration of the
oak parquet floors
- restoration of the bronze chandelier (the Special Expert Ateliers
of the Hermitage, team leader P.A. Khrebtukov)
- repair to the heating, electrical and alarm systems
- installation of air conditioning which was donated to the Hermitage
by the Danish company DAIKIN
- installation of multimedia and projection equipment donated by SAMSUNG
- installation of an acoustic sound system
