Mary Nurerjod's documentary films in the Hermitage's Youth Education Center

On 16 June 2005 the documentary film Bergman and the island of Forje was shown in the Youth Education Center. The film was presented by its director, Mary Nurerjod, who for many years worked in Bergman's film crew. She spoke of the difficulties which she had to overcome to complete her trilogy dedicated to the great film director, and she responded to many questions.

Ingmar Bergman is one of the best known and most influential film directors. His films Smiles of a Summer Night, The Seventh Seal, Wild Strawberries, and The Silence brought him fame and recognition. He has devoted more than 60 years to work as a director.

This documentary allows the viewer to approach the inner world of Bergman. It might be properly called “Bergman and Life.” In it the great master openly talks about himself . It was shot on the barren and mysterious island of Forje in the Baltic Sea.

Mary Nurerjod's documentary films Bergman and the Cinema and Bergman and the Theater will be shown on 30 June at 18.00 in the Youth Education Center, which is located at Moyka Embankment, 45.
