Information Bulletin from the State Hermitage

On 28 September 2006, the Press Service of the State Hermitage publicly stated that in accordance with an order of the Federal Agency on Culture and Cinematography and an order of the Director of the State Hermitage changes have been made to plans for an overall inventory inspection of exhibits held in collections of the State Hermitage.

A new plan has been presented to the Federal Agency on Culture and Cinematography whereby priority is given to checking collections of exhibits containing precious materials, including the collection of exhibits in the Department of History of Russian Culture. This verification should be completed by 1 November 2006.

At the present moment, inventory taking of items containing precious materials in the collection of the Department of History of Russian Culture has revealed that five exhibits are missing. This information is preliminary. It is possible that a technical error was made when processing the lists. The final results will be made known in a summary document of the verification.

The Hermitage plans to provide further information on developments in the course of the ongoing inspection of the museum exhibits containing precious materials.
