Yelena Tkachenko, Music of
Movement. Art canvases, photos, video art On 19 October 2006 a presentation of works by Yelena Tkachenko entitled Music of Movement took place in the Exhibition Hall of the Youth Educational Center of the State Hermitage. The show is part of the Topical Art of the 20th-21st Centuries program. Yelena Tkachenko is a member of the Union of Russian Artists, specifically of the Decorative and Applied Art Section, St Petersburg. She creates unique multi-colored panels woven from threads according to a technology she invented herself. Her art balances between weaving and painting, reminding the viewer of color fantasies of the masters of Abstract Expressionism. Her original hand-made textiles, just like her paintings, have a multitude of color hues, but unlike the canvases they can change their shape, creating beautiful hangings, playing with light and shadow and ‘moving in space with their owner, constantly changing under various sources of light.' The art canvases have been done applying an original technique unlike any other, and this makes it possible to use an infinite number of threads of various colors and textures, thereby creating a very rich color palette and making an art work that is unique and inimitable. On 21 October Yelena Tkachenko conducted a master class for students who are members of the creative sections of the Hermitage Student Club. The exhibition runs until 5 November 2006 Youth Educational Center of the Hermitage: |
