Letter of the Director of the Hermitage to Deputy Governor of St Petersburg S.B. Tarasov

Dear Sergei Borisovich,

As an exceptional measure, the State Hermitage will not object to holding a Rolling Stones concert on Palace Square upon condition that the organizers provide written guaranties that they will respect the safekeeping of the exhibits and respect the legal rights of the State Hermitage. I send in attachment a draft of the contract so compiled. Similar contracts have already been concluded for several concerts.

I would like to remind you that up to now new regulations governing Palace Square have not been adopted, and this complicates many organizational matters as well as making it possible for Palace Square to be converted into a municipal stadium.
