Agreement on Collaboration Signed for the Establishment of a Hermitage-Vyborg Centre

On 27 November 2007, a signing ceremony was held for an agreement on collaboration on establishing of a Hermitage-Vyborg Centre.

The State Hermitage Museum, the Government of Leningrad Region, St. Petersburg City and the Municipal Formation of Vyborg District of the Leningrad Region and Vyborg City based on a general desire to acquaint residents and visitors of the Leningrad Region with the treasures of culture and art kept by the State Hermitage Museum, and to carry out educational programmes, including those for children and young adults, taking into account the State Hermitage Museum's experience in preparing and running cultural-educational programmes in various regions of the Russian Federation, on 27 November 2007, an agreement on collaboration was signed in Vyborg for the establishment of a Hermitage-Vyborg Centre.

The agreement was signed in a ceremony by the Director of the State Hermitage Museum Mikhail Piotrovsky, Governor of Leningrad Region Valery Serdyukov, the head for Municipal Formation of Vyborg District Georgy Poryadin.

The preparation for developing the project plans, centre programmes and its activities, the technical-economic background, architectural and artistic designs for the building, status of the cultural establishment, project budget and sources for financing the centre's work will be developed by a working group made up of representatives from the parties involved in the agreement and invited specialists. The agreement anticipates the establishment of a centre based as a fine arts museum and a painting school in Vyborg. The centre will be located in a building with a total area of 2193 square metres.

It has also been decided that following the successfully completed project establishing the Hermitage-Vyborg Centre, regular working groups will be held by the Director of the State Hermitage Museum Mikhail Piotrovsky, Governor of Leningrad Region Valery Serdyukov and head of the Municipal Formation for Vyborg District, Georgy Poryadin.
