The State Hermitage informs the public that on 29 January 2007 Director of the State Hermitage Mikhail Piotrovsky signed an order on the appointment of the museum's Deputy Director and Chief Curator Tatyana Igorevna Zagrebina to the post of Chief Curator of the Restoration and Storage Facility in Staraya Derevnya. The same order appoints Svetlana Borisovna Adaksina to the post of Deputy Director and Chief Curator of the State Hermitage.

The transfer of Tatyana Zagrebina to the Staraya Derevnya facility is related both to the state of her health and to the need to devote special attention to organizing the work at Staraya Derevnya.

The State Hermitage believes that the only way to ensure effective control over movements of people and exhibit items without turning the museum into a concentration camp is to build new storage facilities where technical systems of control will be included in the design from the very beginning. The State Hermitage intends to persuade the authorities that this is precisely the right position to take.

Information about the activity of the Chief Curator of the State Hermitage will be provided within 100 days of her taking up her new duties.
