The State Hermitage Museum
International Advisory Board
Fourteenth annual meeting

The Fourteenth meeting of the State Hermitage Museum International Advisory Board was held in St. Petersburg on 29 - 30 August, 2008.

Traditionally, the discussions deal with most pressing issues of the Museum’s development. Working sessions were held in the Conference Hall of the State Hermitage Museum. As usually, themes for discussion were developed by the Director of the State Hermitage Museum Prof. Mikhail Piotrovsky. This year the questions introduced for consideration by the International Advisory Board concerned presentation of contemporary art in the museum (discussion of the Hermitage 20/21 exhibition program) as well as the concept of the ‘Museum of the 21st century’ (presentation of the Project 2014: Curatorial Master Plan for the State Hermitage Museum and discussion of the on-going renovation of the General Staff Building).

Members of the State Hermitage Museum Advisory Board who took part in the fourteenth meeting:
Director of the State Hermitage Museum Mikhail Piotrovsky;
Director - General of ICCROM Mounir Bouchenaki (Rome);
President - Directeur of Musee du Louvre Henri Loyrette (Paris);
Former Director of Kimbell Museum Edmund Pillsbury (Fort Worth, Texas);
Former Director of Uffizi Annamaria Petrioli Tofani (Florence) and the new member of the International Advisory Board - Directeur du musee national d’art moderne (Centre Georges Pompidou) Alfred Pacquement (Paris).
