The State Hermitage Museum
International Advisory Board
Fourteenth annual meeting
The Fourteenth meeting of the State Hermitage Museum International
Advisory Board was held in St. Petersburg on 29 - 30 August, 2008.
Traditionally, the discussions deal with most pressing issues
of the Museum’s development. Working sessions were held in the Conference
Hall of the State Hermitage Museum. As usually, themes for discussion
were developed by the Director of the State Hermitage Museum Prof. Mikhail
Piotrovsky. This year the questions introduced for consideration by the
International Advisory Board concerned presentation of contemporary art
in the museum (discussion of the Hermitage 20/21 exhibition program) as
well as the concept of the ‘Museum of the 21st century’ (presentation
of the Project 2014: Curatorial Master Plan for the State Hermitage Museum
and discussion of the on-going renovation of the General Staff Building).
