The International Hermitage Friends' Day

On 8 December 2008, the Museum welcomed all Hermitage Friends from around the world at the traditional annual event - celebration of the International Hermitage Friends' Day.

This year, the special program featured an exclusive walk through the museum rooms and temporary exhibitions opened this evening especially for the Friends:

• one-day exhibition "A Ball: the Joy of Every Guest!.." in the Concert Hall presented 10 masquerade costumes restored with the financial support of the Foundation Hermitage Friends in the Netherlands for the forthcoming 2009 exhibition in the new Hermitage Amsterdam exhibition center in the Netherlands;
  
• exhibition "West European Silver of the 16th - 19th centuries" in the Alexander Hall was shown to the Friends one day before its official opening;
  
• exhibitions "Hermitage in Publications - 2008" and "Hermitage in Photographs - 2008" in the foyer of the Hermitage Theatre.
  

The walk was followed by the traditional welcome of Prof. Mikhail Piotrovsky, Director of the State Hermitage Museum, in the Hermitage Theatre, ceremony of Honorary Diplomas bestowed on Sponsors of the State Hermitage Museum, and the concert of the State Hermitage Orchestra and ballet soloists of the Mariinsky Theatre. The evening program ended with the cocktail in the Jordan Gallery of the Winter Palace.
