The State Hermitage and Its People – Unexpected Angle of Aspect On Saint Valentine’s Day, 14 February 2008, Yuri Molodkovets, one of the State Hermitage’s top photographers, told youth who are dedicated to art photography about forging a new history in the field. The interview focused on various aspects of creative work, from concept and scenario development to implementation and demonstration. Part of the conversation was dedicated to Yuri Molodkovets’ Hermitage-related photo projects. In autumn 2006, he premiered his series, The New Hermitage, on the attic floor of the Winter Palace. At the turn of 2006, he showed his project The Private Hermitage in the halls of the General Staff Building, which included the first-ever nocturnal photographs of the museum, devoid of visitors and even light. Photographic work for this project was carried out for nine months and resulted in a series of images describing the museum’s night atmosphere. The purpose of the new program The State Hermitage and Its People – Unexpected Angle of Aspect, held in the Youth Educational Center, is to introduce museum workers to Saint Petersburg students, giving a view into their fascinations and creations. The program, dedicated to Hermitage members, offers youth a chance to look at the museum from a new perspective. The State Hermitage is known as an exceptional world where art, buildings, and people live side by side. Hermitage workers communicate with thousands of masterpieces every day. This has an impact on a person’s creativity and outlook. The new program includes lectures and meetings that are not only dedicated to the history of the State Hermitage, but also expose the secrets of excellence as seen "from inside" the museum. |
