Visit of Director of the Hermitage • Amsterdam Centre Ernst Veen

On 2 and 3 February 2009, Director of the Hermitage • Amsterdam Centre Ernst Veen was in the State Hermitage with a working visit.

During negotiations with the management and employees of the State Hermitage Ernst Veen told about a course of building and construction works in the Amstelhof building where interior finish comes to the end in exact conformity with the plan. On 19 January 2009, a panel clock counting down hours remaining before the completion of the construction has been solemnly switched on the facade of the building.

During the same visit the program of opening of the new building of the Hermitage • Amsterdam Centre which will take place on 19 June 2009 has been discussed. It is supposed that Her Majesty Queen Beatrix of the Netherlands and the President of the Russian Federation D. A. Medvedev will be present at the official ceremony.

One more theme mentioned during the working meetings is preparation of a new large-scale exhibition At the Russian Courtyard from assembly of the State Hermitage in the Hermitage • Amsterdam Centre. At the moment preparation of exhibits and also materials for the catalogue is nearly over. The exposition will open a series of great exhibitions in the restored Amstelhof building.
