Amsterdam. 18.06.2009 Press-conference in the Hermitage • Amsterdam Centre

18 June 2009 the Hermitage • Amsterdam centre was attended by mass-media. More than 700 journalists were accredited for the press-conference devoted to the opening of the centre. And, although the Amstelhof building now has an excellent spacious hall for hosting such events, there was not enough room for everybody. For that reason it was decided to hold two press-conferences. The first one was organized for the Dutch journalists, the second one - for the foreign mass-media representatives.

Both conferences were opened by Frans van der Avert, head of the PR department. The Director of the State Hermitage, Mikhail Piotrovsky, and the director of the Hermitage • Amsterdam centre Ernst Veen told the journalists about the results of the project, its realization and significance.

Head of the Department of the History of Russian Culture of the Hermitage, the curator of the exhibition At the Russian Court: Palace and Protocol in the 19th Century, Vyacheslav Fedorov told the journalists about the first exhibition of the Hermitage • Amsterdam centre, which is unique in terms of its scope, concept complexity and realization.

After the press-conference the journalists were offered tours devoted to the architecture of the Amstelhof building and the exhibition.
