The State Hermitage Has Been Handed Over a Display Showcase for Pablo Picasso's "Sisters"

On 25 March, 2009 in the museum's Picasso Room a representative of a German company Vitrinen-und Glasbau REIER GmbH solemnly handed over to the State Hermitage a display showcase for Pablo Picasso's painting "Sisters".

The current state of the painting display significantly influence its condition. This is due to frequent drops in humidity level in the room. In case of high humidity the wood expands, when the humidity level is low it quickly dries up. Such frequent changes lead to crack formation and splitting of the canvas. The solution to this situation was creating such conditions for the painting under which the humidity would be kept at a constant level.

The twenty-year experience of Vitrinen-und Glasbau REIER GmbH helped the company to design and produce a special climatic showcase in which the constant humidity level is maintained by means of dry PROSORB silicagel.

The showcase glazing includes high-quality antiglare case-chilled laminated glass. Double-sided spattering of the glass with metallic oxide helps to prevent any type of reflection on the showcase.

The showcase is further equipped with alarm sensors.
