The State Hermitage informs about the publication of the photographs of 12 exhibits that have been on the wanted list since summer, 2006
Icon of the Virgin of Kazan End of the 19th century Icon on panel with a depiction of The Virgin of Kazan in double
plain gilded halo with a crown decorated with two amethysts and four aquamarines, in silver gilded frame with enamel tracery in the form
of small green leaves arranged in two rows and divided slantwise by a gilded
laid band; in the corners and in the middle of every side of the frame
there are eight round plates with blue enamel that alternate with gilded
tracery and white eagles; the back side of the icon is upholstered
in crimson velvet. On the frame there are two identifying marks: "ÄÎ",
and in the oval - an image of a female head in profile to the right and 84 hallmark. |
