Scientific Conference Peter
the Great’s Time in Persons - 2009 17-18 November 2009, traditional annual scientific conference Peter the Geat’s Time in Persons took place at the department of the State Hermitage - The Menshikov Palace. Georgy Vilinbakhov, Deputy director of the State Hermitage, opened the conference. Executive Director of the Likhachev Foundation Alexander Kobak presented information on the Russian programme Way of Peter the Great. Research assistants of the State Hermitage and specialists from museums and scientific institutions of St Petersburg, Moscow, Petrozavodsk, as well as employees of Higher School for Advanced Studies in the Social Science (Paris) took part in the conference. Reports dedicated to the battle of Poltava (M. Babich), personality and deeds of Peter I (V. Korentsvit, A. Guskov), iconography of Peter I (D. Guzevich and I. Guzevich, P. Krotov) were presented at the conference. The report of M. Denisova, E. Moiseenko and N. Tarasova was dedicated to the research of the costume of the Wax Person. Articles by T. Tairova-Yakovleva, E. Tyukhmeneva are dedicated to the deeds of an outstanding figure Alexander Menshikov. Reports dedicated to such distinguished figures of Peter the Great’s time as Savva Vladislavich (S. Androsov), Fyodor Golovin (N. Kopaneva), Fyodor Romodanovsky (N. Slavnitsky) were read out at the conference. A number of reports was dedicated to other pressing problems of Peter the Great’s time. The book The Dutch in Russia in the First Half of the 18th Century. Lexicon by B. Makarov (St Petersburg, 2009) was presented at the conference.
