245th ANNIVERSARY OF THE HERMITAGE
The Hermitage Days - 2009
Ceremony of Awarding the State Hermitage Employees with the Insignias Created by the Jewellers of the Smolensk Diamonds Company

By tradition during the Hermitage Days three distinguished employees of the State Hermitage were awarded with the insignias created by the jewellers of the Smolensk Diamonds company and performed in a form of a stylized logo of the museum of white gold decorated with diamonds of Russian cut. This year Magdalina Dobrovolskaya, Anna Ierusalimskaya and Irina Ukhanova became laureates of the diamond award.

Magdalina Dobrovolskaya

Has been working in the museum since 1955. Senior researcher of the Numismatics Department, curator of the collection of orders, insignias, award medals, badges, pins, stamps and heraldic materials.

Magdalina Dobrovolskaya is an author of over 70 scientific papers, one of the most active participants in the exhibitions of the Numismatics Department, high-class specialist providing consultative support to the curators of the Hermitage and other museums of Russia. She contributed great amount of work and effort into systematization, replenishment and study of the Hermitage collections. She has a Medal of the Order of Merit for the Motherland of the Second Degree, Medal for Veteran of Labour, Medal for 300 Years Anniversary of St Andrew the First-Called Order.

Anna Ierusalimskaya

Has been working at the State Hermitage since 1957. Candidate of science, the leading research assistant of the sector of Byzantium and the Near East of the Oriental Department of the State Hermitage, curator of the early Medieval ages archaeological collections of the Caucasus.

Anna Ierusalimskaya gives lectures, supervises post-graduate students, advises colleagues and takes part in various conferences. She represents Russia in the Committee of Directors of the International Centre for the Study of Ancient Textiles. Due to Anna Ierusalimskaya’s hard work a renovated exhibition of Moschevaya Balka necropolis complex was opened in 2007. She has a Medal in Commemoration of 250th anniversary of Leningrad.

Irina Ukhanova

Has been working at the Hermitage since 1949. Doctor of Historical Sciences, the head research assistant of the Department of Russian Culture, Honoured cultural worker of the Russian Federation. Over 100 papers on history of Russian decorative and applied art became the result of her fruitful work of many years.

For many years Irina Ukhanova has been the head of the Restoration Commission for new wood and organic materials of the State Hermitage. She is a member of the Academic Councils of the Academy of Culture, the Academy of Art and Industry, the Artistic Council on Folk Crafts of St Petersburg. She was awarded with the Medal for the Veteran of Labour.
