245th ANNIVERSARY OF THE HERMITAGE 9 December 2009, on the day of Saint George a grand ceremony of presentation of new exhibits granted to the State Hermitage in 2009 took place in the St George Hall (the Grand Throne Hall). On that day Director of the State Hermitage Mikhail Piotrovsky accepted the sabre of St George, belonging to Grand Duke Nikolai Nikolaevich Romanov Senior, as a gift from the Dukes Nikolai Romanovich and Dmitry Romanovich Romanovs. Three leaves with architectural drawings by Yury Felten depicting sections and facade of the Hermitage building were also presented. The image of the Dressing Room interior of Empress Catherine II and section of the Hermitage representing tables with elevating mechanisms are of special interest. The drawings by Yury Felten were delivered to St Petersburg and on December 9th within the framework of the Hermitage Days celebration were presented to the Hermitage by the Yantarny Dom (Amber House) LLC as a solemn occasion. On the Day of Saint George visitors were also able to see two Russian
colours presented to the Hermitage from the collection
of the Royal Armoury Chamber Museum in Stockholm, Sweden.
They are the colour of infantry regiment
