Wrap-up of the Artistic Competition "The State Hermitage - The General Staff. The 21st Century Museum"

On 27 March, 2009 in St. Petersburg the Meeting Room of the State Hermitage Scientific Council housed the official wrapping-up ceremony of the artistic competition "The State Hermitage - the General Staff. The 21st Century Museum" organised by Coca-Cola HBC Eurasia and the State Hermitage.

The national competition announced by Coca-Cola HBC Eurasia in October, 2008, turned out to be one of a high spot in the many-year cooperation of the Moscow representative office of Coca-Cola HBC Eurasia and one of the greatest museums in the world. The competition is held to support the programme "The State Hermitage - the General Staff. The 21st Century Museum" and is aimed at providing gifted children from different cities of Russia the possibility to participate in creating the museum of future.

The competition was held in two stages. At the first stage 299 pieces of artwork were selected. These included 5 finalists from each region that progressed to the second stage. Their artwork was presented for review to the All-Russian Panel of Judges under the guidance of the State Hermitage Director Mikhail Piotrovsky that announced the winners. Owing to the financial and organisational support of Coca-Cola HBC Eurasia, children from Vladivostok, Samara, Yekaterinburg, Taloe village of Krasnoyarsk Territory, Moscow, Nizhniy Novgorod, and the town of Konstantinovsk of Rostov Region got a chance to visit St. Petersburg during the spring holidays from 23 to 29 March, 2009.

"For many kids it was their first time in St. Petersburg and we tried to show them the best of our city," said Konstantin Chukchukov, General Regional Manager North-West Russia of Coca-Cola HBC Eurasia, "Before the trip we asked them about what they wanted to see and tried to fulfil all their requests. So the young amateurs of art not only visited the state rooms of the Hermitage but also the museum Repository that only a few St. Petersburg citizens have been granted access to. A tour around the city, the Catherine Palace, the Communication Museum, the Menshikov Palace, "The Swan Lake" ballet constitute only a part of the programme we organised for our guests".

At the ceremony the competition finalists were presented with certificates. The organisers also announced the winner of the Grand Prix established by the Moscow representative office of The Coca-Cola Export Corporation. The top finalist of the All-Russian competition was awarded with a trip to one of the most famous museums of modern art in the world, the Guggenheim Museum in New York, NY (USA).
