Project The General Staff Building: Time of Changes of the section The Art of Photography under the Student Club of the State Hermitage Museum's Youth Centre 5-7 June 2009, on the staircase of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in the General Staff building the visitors of the museum were presented the project The General Staff Building: Time of Changes prepared by the section The Art of Photography under the Student Club of the State Hermitage Museum's Youth Centre. A photograph as a document and a work of art has always been placed in the focus of the programme for theoretical and practical activities of this section. The students learn the history of photography, how it started and developed, its genres, the basics of composition. Owing to a specifically developed programme they can master the basic skills of making a photographic image, develop their creativity and use it when designing specific programmes of the Youth Centre devoted to the exhibitions and different events organized by the museum. The students attending the section have participated several times in such programmes. They have organized an action named Me and Chuck Close within the frames of the exhibition Chuck Close. Seven Portraits. In the course of the action several rooms of the Hermitage hosted 7 portrait photographs reflecting the view of the youth upon the works of the artist. Every year the students of the section present various personal photographic projects at the Youth Centre. Last year they designed a project devoted to the reconstruction
of the General Staff building which shall become a place
for exhibiting works of art belonging |
