Donation of Large-Scale Collage Created after the Museum Collection by the Students of Republic of Korea to the  State Hermitage

12 August 2009, the ceremony of donation of the collage created by South Korean students to the museum, took place in Staraya Derevnya Restoration and Storage Centre.

Large-scale collage (15.6 m by 9.6 m) depicted views of the museum and the most well-known masterpieces of the collection - Woman Holding a Fruit by Paul Gauguin, The Bronze Age by Auguste Rodin, Judith by Giorgione. Donation ceremony took place in the "E" building of the Restoration and Storage Centre that is under construction. The premises were selected taking into consideration large size of the work. The students assembled and glued together the collage on-site, after that the collage shall remain in the fund storage.

Work on the collage began June 4, 2009 and continued for 10 days and nights. 67 students of Dankook University (Republic of Korea) took part in the work. The process of work creation, for which 3,240 magazines were used, was videotaped. Video clip that had become a true Internet sensation was also presented at the ceremony.

The collage was presented by ten distinguished students of Dankook University. Korean Air Company supported realization of their visit to St Petersburg as a part of cooperation program with the State Hermitage on creation of audio guide in Korean language.

Director of the State Hermitage Mikhail Piotrovsky, Deputy Director Vladimir Matveev as well as General Manager of Petersburg representative office of Korean Air Company Sung Mu Kim took part in the ceremony.
