Finalist of the Contest for Senior Pupils visits the Guggenheim Museum in New-York

In March 2009 the State Hermitage hosted the awarding ceremony of the national contest for senior pupils The State Hermitage - The General Staff Building. Museum of XXI century held jointly by the State Hermitage and Coca Cola HBC Eurasia.

At the ceremony the finalists were awarded diplomas, and the winner, a 14-year old pupil Irena Knyazeva from Konstantinovsk-on-Don, received a Grand Prix provided by the Moscow Branch of the Coca Cola Export Corporation. The prize for the winner was a trip to one of the most famous museums of modern art in the world, the Guggenheim Museum in New-York, which the girl visited together with Mikhail Piotrovsky, the Director of the State Hermitage, in October 2009.

Visiting the State Hermitage and the Guggenheim Museum became the first real meeting with genuine works of art for Irena who had never left her native town or seen large museums before.
