Charity Event The Hermitage Gathers Friends 2 December 2009, the State Hermitage together with the Regional public union Bolshaya Medvedica (Great Bear) organized a charity event The Hermitage Gathers Friends for 300 children, teenagers and young people, who are challenged in their development. Such meetings have been organized annually since 2004. This year the meeting took place within the framework of the International
Decade for Disabled Persons. In the halls of the museum the employees
of the scientific and educational department, who have great experience
in working with sick children, organized excursions introducing children
to the rooms of the museum Each year the Hermitage School Centre develops a new excursion programme since a part of the children participates in the festive occasions each year and various theme excursions also including excursions of temporary exhibitions are being organized for them. It is important that the children after each visit leave the museum enriched with new impressions and knowledge. Diverse composition of groups by age and type of disease is also taken into consideration. Such children need special conditions, considerate treatment and simplicity of the recounted material. A lot of services of the museum join the event. These are the Theatrical and Educational Department, the Security Service and the Hospitality Service that provide necessary support, lift operations, cloakroom and so on. After excursions the groups headed for the Hermitage Theatre where a wonderful
concert had been waiting for them; ballet artists of St Petersburg
theatres gave performance for them. Before the beginning of the concert
Deputy Director of the State Hermitage Vladimir Matveev gave a speech
and cordially greeted the guests, wished them health, |
