The campaign devoted to the 65th anniversary of victory in the Great Patriotic War and the 69th anniversary of the beginning of the Siege of Leningrad 10 September 2010 the special campaign devoted to the 65th anniversary of victory in the Great Patriotic War and the 69th anniversary of the beginning of the Siege of Leningrad was held at the State Hermitage. In summer 2010 a corner of "the siege garden" was recreated
in the Hanging Garden of the Small Hermitage with the support of Neolik,
LLC and the Prinevskoye plant. This is part of the project for restoration
of the Hanging Garden and the anniversary program 10 September the State Hermitage in association with Fazer Food Services carried out the harvesting timed to the anniversary of the beginning of the Siege of Leningrad. From the vegetables grown in the "siege garden" pies were made for the eldest employees of the Hermitage. Ludmila Voronikhina, the leading methodist of the Scientific-Educational Department, who has worked for over 50 years in the museum, shared about the museum's life and its employees during the years of the siege to the guests. Mikhail Piotrovsky, Director of the State Hermitage, said, "We decided to remind our visitors that during the siege there was a garden that helped a little the employees to survive; same as the entire city was made a garden. Trees were not cut but everywhere something edible was grown".
