The State Hermitage became a laureate of the Museum Olympus – 2010 award

The Museum Olympus award was established by the Culture Committee for St Petersburg and the Interagency Museum Council and is given for the second time. Twenty-eight institutions of culture presented their projects in six nominations.

The State Hermitage received a statuette of Mnemosyne, a goddess of memory, in the nomination "Museum for Children" for the Past at One’s Fingertips, a program for blind and visually impaired children.

This year organizers of the Museum Olympus established six special prizes with laureate diplomas and Mnemosyne commemorative tokens. One of them was awarded to the State Hermitage restorers for restoring a glass-bead panel painting from the Chinese palace in Oranienbaum. Special prize was also awarded to the Imperial Glass Factory, a monograph by T. Malinina (Publishing House of the State Hermitage).

In addition, for the preparation of a series of publications under the section of View from the Hermitage, subsequently put together as a same-named book, a correspondent of St Petersburg Vedomosti Ludmila Leusskaya received a special prize “For the Best Journalist Work”.
