Presentation of projects of new illumination of halls and items of the State Hermitage 10 December 2010 a presentation of projects of new illumination of the museum’s halls and items, implemented in association with Philips, was held at the State Hermitage. Director of the State Hermitage M. Piotrovsky and Vice-President and Director General of Philips Lighting in Russia, Belarus, Ukraine, Turkey, the Trans-Caucasian region and Central Asia V. Gabrielian presented to journalists the results of cooperation of the museum and the company in 2010. In the expiring year new illumination was arranged for the Jordan Gallery and the George’s (Grand Throne) hall of the Winter Palace. Emphasizing the architecture, new illumination, at the same time, enables the reduction of power consumption considerably. It is worth noting that, specifically for the Jordan Gallery, Philips designed LED lamps producing uniform white light. The project of architectural illumination of the Alexander’s Column was implemented by Philips in association with specialists of LenEnergo, OJSC. New illumination makes use of the latest LED high-power ColorReach projectors capable of illuminating items at night-time with the maximum rational power consumption. At night-time LED projectors are directed at a figure of the angel looking as if soaring in the air. To this effect the column itself is not illuminated and there are no additional lighting accents. On weekdays the column is illuminated in a static mode by warm white light. For celebrations, a scenario of lighting performance with a change in colors and lighting intensity is available. Soft pastel shades of violet, blue, scarlet and yellow, glowing and fading, will create an effective play of light and shade. In the evening of the same day the State Hermitage and Philips presented a summary of results of cooperation in 2010 to their friends and partners.
