Conference devoted to the 30th anniversary of the Heraldry Seminar

On 15 December 2010 a conference devoted to the 30th anniversary of the Heraldry Seminar was opened at the State Hermitage.

In his welcome speech Director of the Hermitage M. Piotrovsky highlighted the role of the seminar in forming the heraldry of contemporary Russia and its significance as essential Hermitage tradition.

In the opening speech by Deputy Director for Research and State King-of-Arms of the Russian Federation G. Vilinbakhov told about the history of the seminar which became an integral part of the museum’s scientific life, as well as the research on heraldry materials in the Imperial and State Hermitage.

The conference was attended by specialists from St Petersburg, Moscow, Tver, Ryazan, the Krasnodar region and other region of Russia.
