Student’s Day – 2010
3 October, 2010 a traditional Student’s Day was held in the State Hermitage.
This year it was dedicated to the art of the 20th-21st
centuries. Mikhail Piotrovsky, Director of the Museum welcomed everyone
gathered in the Hermitage Theater.
As a part of the Project The Hermitage 20/21, the purpose of which
is collecting, exhibiting and studying the art of the 20th-21st centuries,
the Festival The Pompidou Center in the State Hermitage takes place
in the museum. Dmitry Ozerkov Head of the Modern Art Section told about
the festival’s program and participants.
Chief Researcher of the Western European Fine Art Department Albert Kostenevich
devoted his speech to a grand exhibition of Pablo Picasso from the collection
of the Picasso Museum, Paris, held in summer and introduced the exhibition
of one of pictures of the master - Nude Woman in a Red Armchair,
opening of which was specially coincided with the Student’s Day.
The Youth Educational Center of the museum introduced young people to the activity
of the Student’s Club The Hermitage in which 800 students
from 34 Institutions of Higher Education study every year. 19 sections
of the Club will open their doors for the students in a new season and they
will be able to take part in the most diverse programs, Panel Discussions,
Workshops, to listen to the set of lectures, to meet famous artists, art
experts, exhibition curators and writers.
