The State Hermitage Museum International Advisory Board Seventeenth Annual Meeting

The Seventeenth Meeting of the State Hermitage Museum International Advisory Board was held in St. Petersburg on 26-27 August, 2011.

Traditionally, the discussions deal with most pressing issues of the Museum’s development. Working sessions were held in the Conference Hall of the State Hermitage Museum. As usually, themes for discussion were developed by the Director of the State Hermitage Museum Prof. Mikhail Piotrovsky. This year the question introduced for consideration by the International Advisory Board concerned The 250th Anniversary of the State Hermitage Museum in 2014: Organization, Objectives and ideas. Round table discussion was devoted to Anniversary Celebrations in the Museum and the World.

Members of Advisory Board Meeting had a chance to view new temporary exhibitions, restoration of the Eastern Wing of the General Staff Building (the first part which is completed by now).

They visited Staraya Ladoga, particularly Archaeological Museum, Fortress, Assumption women Monastery, St. Nicolas men Monastery.
