Closing of the exhibition In the Eyes of the Romanticist. 19th Century Dutch and Belgian Painting from Rademakers’ collection

From 29 October 2010 to 5 February 2011 the exhibition In the Eyes of the Romanticist. The 19th Century Dutch and Belgian Painting from Rademakers’ collection was opened in the 3rd floor halls of the Winter Palace. Over this period it was attended by several thousand St Petersburgers and guests of the city.

On 6 February an extraordinary and touching ceremony closing the exposition was held in the same halls. It was attended by Deputy Director of the Hermitage Vladimir Matveev, Consul General of the Kingdom of the Netherlands in St Petersburg Klaas Huisman, the owner of the collection presented at the exhibition, writer and art historian Jef Rademakers, and the exhibition curator at the Hermitage Boris Asvarisch.

Museum attendants who worked at the exposition for these three months were invited to the ceremony. Mr Rademakers thanked each of them and gave them flowers and tokens.
