Google Art Project

On 2 February 2011 a presentation of the joint art project of Google, the State Hermitage and other museums was held at Tate Britain, London. The project enables you to take virtual tours over 17 world’s largest museums. You can not only "visit" halls but also see in great detail the works of art that were not available for virtual visitors before. As the project participant, the State Hermitage provided an opportunity to "tour" 18 halls.

"The State Hermitage tries to take the lead in all areas, including multimedia, and Google, in its turn, also takes a leading position on the market. The more important is such cooperation and its outcomes which contribute not only to a specific aspect of human knowledge but also to the preservation of the heritage in general," highlighted Director of the Hermitage Mikhail Piotrovsky.
