Stay of M. B. Piotrovsky,
director of the State Hermitage Museum, in Kazan on 9-10 February 2011
On 9 February 2011 the corresponding member of the Russian Academy
of Science, active member of the Russian Academy of Arts, honorary member
of the Academy of Science of Tatarstan Republic, director of the State
Hermitage Museum M. B. Piotrovsky delivered a public lecture on Quranic
Archeology in the Academy of Science of Tatarstan Republic to celebrate
the Day Of Russian Science.
The lecture was followed by the ceremony to give M. B. Piotrovsky a diploma
of the Honorary Member of the Academy of Science of Tatarstan Republic.
"Support, attention and care of M. B. Piotrovsky in the cause of
preservation and study of spiritual and material heritage of our ancestors
deserve recognition of Tatarstan academic community. The decision of the
Academy of Science of Tatarstan Republic to make Professor M. B. Piotrovsky
the Honorary Member of the Academy is an acknowledgement of his accomplishments
as an outstanding scientist and talented administrator in the field o science and culture. It is a great honor for us," noted President
of the Academy of Science of Tatarstan Republic Akhmet Mazgarovich Mazgarov.
On 10 February 2011 there was a solemn meeting of the Board of Academics of Kazan Federal University when Mikhail Borisovich Piotrovsky
was given the insignia and the mantle of the Honorary Doctor of one of the Russia’s oldest universities.
The ceremony was attended by Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Culture
of Tatarstan Republic Zilya Rakhimyanovna Valeeva, President of Kazan
Univeristy Myakzyum Khalimulovich Salakhov and other officials.
M. B. Piotrovsky delivered a lecture on the Encyclopedic museum of the
XXI century and told about the development prospects of the State Hermitage
Museum
