15th Anniversary of the Hermitage Friends’ Club
The New Season in the Hermitage Friends’ Club

On 6 October, 2011 the Hermitage Friends’ Club opened its new, fifteenth season. The evening program THE ISLAND OF ST. CECILIA included concert in the Large Skylight Hall of the New Hermitage building dedicated to the patron saint of musicians and Church music.

The Friends’ meeting opened with the word of welcome by Dr. Vladimir Matveyev, Deputy Director of the State Hermitage Museum. Following it, the guests were invited to the Italian rooms to see the painting St. Cecilia by Carlo Rossi and to hear the presentation of Natalia Katonova, the Director of the State Hermitage Orchestra, on St. Cecilia, music works and paintings dedicated to her. The Friends then enjoyed the Ode to St. Cecilia by Henry Purcell performed by the State Hermitage Orchestra and the Concert Choir of the St. Petersburg University of Arts and Culture.

We encourage everyone who is not yet a member of the Hermitage Friends’ Club to do so by joining before the event, which will provide your participation in all the exclusive events for the members of the Hermitage Friends’ Club only.
