People from the Time of Peter the Great-2011 Science Conference On 22-23 November 2011 the annual conference People from the Time of Peter the Great was held in the Menshikov Palace. It was attended by specialists from Moscow, Saint Petersburg, Saratov and Tallinn. The conference was, as usual, related to the events and people of the time of Peter the Great. The lectures covered the most varied aspects of life in Russia at that time: Peter the Great’s policies in Central Asia, crime in the time of Peter the Great, town construction and architecture, archaeological expeditions and the height of the flooding by the Menshikov Palace. Most attention was paid to research into cultural and artistic monuments from the time of Peter the Great. Another topic was the history of the First Cadet Corps. One of the lectures was dedicated to the diaries of the last director of the First Cadets Corps Museum Alexander Krutetsky, which were donated to the State Hermitage by his granddaughter. Although this conference has been running for many years it still attracts great interest from specialists and all lovers of Russian history. Conference materials are published in the collection People from the
