The annual December meeting with the managers of the State Hermitage Museum’s tourism partner companies The annual December meeting with the managers of tourism companies that have become partners of the State Hermitage Museum was held on December 5, 2011. These meetings have become a tradition. They are held by the Tourism and Special Programs Sector, which began in 2001, and make it possible for participants to exchange opinions about the last tourist season, tendencies and prospects for development, and their plans for the coming year, to discuss the issues related accommodating a large flow of visitors, which are extremely relevant for the museum, and to describe new exhibits and new special programs. This year’s meeting was held in the Restoration and Storage Center Staraya Derevnya. The manager of more than 100 tourist companies participated in the meeting. This was the first time that many of the participants had the opportunity to become familiar with the center and its open repository. The participants were greeted by V.Y. Matveev, Deputy Director of the State Hermitage Museum, O.B. Arkhipova, Head of the Tourism and Special Programs Sector, and V.I. Dobrovolsky, Head of the department of the Restoration and Storage Center Staraya Derevnya. The participants then viewed the open repository, including Section E, which is currently under construction, and the new illumination system, a gift of the Phillips company, which is in use for the preserved walls of Buddhist monasteries, Western European tapestries, and carriages. The meeting concluded with a performance by the Slavs vocal ensemble. The assembled managers were presented with letters of appreciation for their active participation in the museum’s special programs and other remarkable examples of cooperation.
