Visit by the General Director of the State Hermitage Museum to Israel

On February 18-20, 2013, negotiations were conducted on the development of exhibit relations between the Hermitage and the museums of Israel. M.B. Piotrovsky met with the director of the Israel Museum James Snyder and the new director of the Art Museum of Tel Aviv Susan Landau, the mayors of Jerusalem and Tel Aviv, and responsible employees of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. A program for presenting exhibits from the archeological collections and collections of new art of Israeli museums at the Hermitage was discussed. In June, the first of them will open; it is entitled "White City," and is the story of a UNESCO world heritage site, the 1920's-30's buildings in Tel Aviv and the process of their preservation and restoration. The question of creating an Hermitage Friends Society in Israel was also discussed.
